WOYWW # 218

8/6/13

Howdy, how are are all you awesome,  amazing desk hoppers doing this week?? Gues what day it is?? Come on, guess!! Yup it's HUMP DAY, and that means it is time for all of us to gather over at Julia's place so we can get out our virtual passports and see desks, and tables around the world.

Let me start off by saying a big fat thank you to all you wonderful, talented, inspirational, funny, warm, and kind folks who stoppped by my work table last week, and those who are becoming regulars. You all left such kind comments, and words of encouragement. I'd also like to say a special thank you for you awesome peeps who have started following me. You know who you are. :D

As you know I did a surprise, just because, good old fashioned drawing for those who left comments the previous week. Shaz was the lucky winner. I heard her squeals of excitement from this side of the pond. BTW, I finally got your goods in the mail. I probably could have delivered it in person for about the same price. I've never shipped over seas before…can you say "STICKER SHOCK". The woman in line ahead of me was mailing a big box to India. It was $90. I can honestly say, mine was no where near that. I had this giant smile on my face as I was filling out the little customs form, a) because I am excited to be sending Shaz her goodies, and b) I felt all "INTERNATIONAL" shipping a package overseas. I'm a weirdo, I know.

So this week not much going on. I am working on a belated birthday present for Ms Roudi over at http://c-is-for-craft.blogspot.com. I can not show photos yet. but I should be done in the next few days. I also did my weekly Life Book project. I have only completed a handful of the weekly projects. So I am working on catching up some. (I even put in another supply order with dickblick.com) Week 31 lesson was; "Healing and Authenticity with Jeanette House" Jeanette used Blues, Purples, White and Grey. I chose a completely different color palette. I went with more earthy tones, or Autumn colors. (MY FAV's) I'm going to be selling my cricut and 15+ cartridges. I NEVER use it, actually I don't know how to use it. I'm going to thin out some stuff I hardly use. That way I can buy stuff I will use. Perfect Logic, right??
Friday night Bridget and a small group of other Champion level dancers did a show and danced with Irish singer and performer Sean Keane. He was not only an amazing singer, but he was a wonderful storyteller. On Saturday the girls danced at a North Carolina convention of Ancient Order of Hibernians. You'll notice Bridget wore a different costume each night. Friday she wore what they call a "Pub Costume". It is for doing pub shows and special performances. On Saturday they could wear their solo dresses.
Well I have most definitely rambled long enough. Please feel free to leave me a comment. I'd love it if you'd decide to follow me. If I'm not already following you, I will.

HUGS,
Bridget with Sean Keane

  1. So why did I think you lived in the UK? I'm a real dufus at times. Love the face you painted. You are very creative. And Bridget is quite a sweet young lady, too. You must be proud.

    Happy WOYWW from #2.

  15. Busy week Kimberley and looks like the girls have a great time dancing. Postage kills in Australia too $1.70 for a card and $2.60 a letter, hate to think what a parcel would cost. Cheers RobynO #51

  19. Yes its always exciting to post things off overseas as well as getting happy mail from overseas, I had to post something earlier in the week to the states and was told that it would actually cost me more to send the parcel locally here in Australia then it did to the states....how does that work. Loving your Life Book Project, I am doing this and playing catch up also, but am really liking what I have seen of the last two lessons so think I may do them before I catch up on some of the others. I hope you have a great week! Happy WOYWW! Danie #14

  21. Some great pictures there, well done to you. I spend all my time panicking about things arriving if I post oversea's, postage is just so expensive these days wherever you are sending though.

Well done on being an early bird this week too.

  30. Morning Kimmie, that international postage charge is a killer, isn't it? Everything I post is overseas... think I have only gone local a couple of times! Your portraits are beautiful and I agree, if you don't use something, then sell it on and buy something you will have fun with. Happy WOYWW Annette #5

  36. Your painting is stunning - thanks for sharing. The cricut is great for cutting templates to use with spray paints/masks so make sure you are doing the right thing selling - mine doesn't get used as much as it once did but it's great to have as part of the stash

  38. Awww Kimmy, thank you for your wonderfully enthusiastic comment on my blog! I'm so glad you're enjoying the progress on our new house and especially on my new ARTHaven, and you're right, I'm so excited about the prospect of getting in there asap! My cystitis is so much better now - I'm still on the antibiotics for a few days, but am symptom free! Wonderful. I am so sorry to hear that you've got all those health problems and that you are so prone to cystitis. Cranberry juice is extremely good for bladder health because it contains a substance that binds with the lining of the bladder and protects it - all good scientific stuff! I have been drinking it like there's no tomorrow these last couple of days, and once I've finished the antibiotics and know that all is well, I shall continue to have a glass each day. It's also quite delicious.

I was sorry to miss the WOYWW 4th anniversary swap this year but all my stuff was packed and far too much else to do anyway, with the move. I can't believe it took me a year to get round to uploading that blog post... It was an amazing experience, and so great to receive the little packages in the post - a delightful change to the usual bills and junk mail...

I always enjoy visiting you too! Have a great weekend, Kimmy, and hope you are over your current bout of cystitis really soon. From a position of first hand experience (for the very first time) I can say a heartfelt "You have my sympathy"!

  41. The postage here in Australia is really high. I tried to sell on Etsy but the postage, which was all international, was really high and it just wasn't worth it, so I understand your shock. Your daughter looks fabulous in her costume, you must be really proud of her. I love your beautiful face painting, it is serene. Just fabulous.
    Have a great week.
Von #33 Thanks for visiting, I'm running really late, as usual.

  42. Thank you Kimmie! For the fronts of the boxes i just used my favorite Tim Holtz Papers :D, I love the imagery of them! I can't wait to get them finished! You should totally make some! Much cheaper than buying any, and they are custom to your paper choices that way! Haha that's funny that you saw the binder on "Help with House Plants", I actually bought it fr like a quarter, and someday will probably alter it or make some sort of mini/smash book or something with it... at least that's the plan. you where right Roberta is my mom, and everyone says we look more like sisters, even though she's 21 years older!!(I guess this is a complement for her, hoping that I don't look that old yet...lol) Thank you for your nice comments!

  43. First, sorry I am SO late in getting around. It's been one of those weeks I guess along with internet problems. Look at your beautiful daughter!!! What an honor...that is just too cool! And I love your painting. And you came in #3 at Julia's! Had a giveaway, congrats to Shaz!!! You are so busy yet you make it look so easy! Big hugs, Rasz #119

  44. I didn't want to take time to find e-mail, so thought I should let you know I got your package this morning. Not sure when it arrived, because I haven't checked my mail in three days. I check it when I water my garden, and since my garden is waterlogged, I haven't been out there. I'm sorry I didn't let you know sooner, BUT, I wanted you to know I got it as soon as I took it out of my mailbox. BTW, I'm not going to open it till my WOYWW post. You can be as happy as I know I'm going to be!! Thank you in advance, dear.

  45. Just saw your comment, and thought you don't have to wait till 9 pm. I'll be posting sometime between 5 and 6 pm CDT, which will be right after I open your lovely box. And YES, I have THAT much patience. Annette (Voodoo Vixen) sent me a birthday gift in Feb and I promised to open it on my birthday, which was April 22. My friends took me to lunch and I opened it in the restaurant.

BTW, I'd LOVE to have you join us one of these times for T Stands for Tuesday!
